How One Utah Dad Turned His Love of Cars Into a Business in Less Than a Year

by T-Top VibesOctober 1, 2026in Auto2 min read

Matt Loy was riding with his brother in his Pontiac Trans Am, the T-tops off and the sound of the engine filling the mountain air, when he put words to a feeling he had known for years.

He loved the drive. He loved the moment. He loved the vibe.

That feeling became the name and inspiration for T-Top Vibes, an automotive lifestyle business the Utah father of two young sons started from his garage. In less than a year, Loy went from opening an Etsy shop to establishing the business, becoming an authorized Seat Armour dealer and launching his own website, TTopVibes.com.

For Loy, “T-Top Vibes” describes something car lovers understand regardless of what they drive: an open road, a favorite vehicle and the happiness of being behind the wheel.

His own version comes with the roof panels off his 2001 Pontiac Trans Am WS6, driving through the mountains or taking his sons along for a cruise. Someone else might find it in a Corvette, a Jeep, a truck or a car they have spent years restoring.

T-Top Vibes

“That feeling with the T-tops off and my kids along for the ride is why I started T-Top Vibes,” Loy said. “I wanted to help other enthusiasts celebrate what they drive.”

The veteran-owned store brings that idea into a collection of automotive apparel, gifts, seat protection and car care products.

Among its featured offerings are officially licensed Seat Armour car seat towels. The removable, washable towels slip over a vehicle’s headrest to help protect the seat surface from sweat and dirt while displaying a favorite automotive logo.

T-Top Vibes also carries officially licensed General Motors merchandise, including items for Chevrolet, Corvette, Camaro and GMC enthusiasts, alongside original T-Top Vibes apparel. Detailing products from Gemstone Labs and Lane’s Car Products give owners another way to care for the vehicles they enjoy.

Moving from Etsy to an independent website gave Loy a place to bring those products and his founder story together. His goal is to build a shopping experience that reflects the community he belongs to, with personal service and products for fellow enthusiasts and the people buying gifts for them.

The business began with an ordinary moment between two brothers enjoying a drive. Today, its name is a reminder of why Loy started: sometimes, being in a car you love is enough to make your day.
